Looks like Deepika Padukone won’t be in the second part of Kalki 2898 AD. The movie’s producers, Vyjayanthi Movies, shared the news on social media, saying they had to ‘part ways’ with the actress.
They explained that even though they worked together on the first film for a long time, they couldn’t find a way to keep their partnership going for the sequel. The team felt that a movie like Kalki needs a lot of commitment, and they just weren’t on the same page.

This isn’t the first time something like this has happened lately. There were also reports that she was dropped from another big movie, Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and also starring Prabhas. It was rumored that this happened because of some disagreements about her pay and a request for shorter workdays now that she’s a new mom.

Kalki 2898 AD stars a powerful ensemble cast with Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan as the immortal warrior Ashwatthama. The main antagonist, Supreme Yaskin, is portrayed by Kamal Haasan, while Disha Patani, Malvika Nair, Mrunal Thakur, Dulquer Salmaan, Vijay Deverakonda, S. S. Rajamouli, Ram Gopal Varma and Srinivas Avasarala had a small but important role to play.
The movie was written and directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by C. Aswini Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt.
The Kalki 2898 AD makers wished Deepika all the best for her future projects.
