This marks her first collaboration with producer Rahul Tewary and his team. “I got a call from the casting director, and when I heard the role, I immediately liked it and signed on. On the first day of shoot itself, I felt completely at ease it didn’t feel like I was working with the team for the first time,” she shares.

Talking about her character, Guddi teases that her entry will stir things up for the lead protagonist Sailee, played by Neha Harsora. “My role has many layers, and I’m going to make Sailee’s life quite miserable,” she laughs. “The show is already doing very well touch wood and I’ll try my best to add my bit to it. Of course, it all depends on the writing and creative direction, but I hope a bit of comedy gets added to my grey shade. That would make it even more fun.”

So far, Guddi has shared screen space with Neha Harsora and is looking forward to shooting with Kanwar Dhillon soon.

The actor, who was a household name in the ’90s for her impeccable comic timing, feels television has given her an opportunity to break stereotypes. “Television has really given a new scope to actors like me. Earlier, I was mostly doing comedy and got typecast as the ‘fat funny girl’. But now, TV is letting me explore roles that are layered even negative roles with a hint of humor and that’s very exciting.”

Describing her Udne Ki Aasha avatar, Guddi adds, “This isn’t a typical ’90s comic role. It’s very different she’s ambitious, tough, not exactly mean but a strong woman with shades of grey. I hope the audience accepts me as this slightly kameeni types character,” she quips.

Sharing a line that defines her character, Guddi cites Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Raees dialogue: “Jo dhande ke liye sahi, woh sahi. Jo dhande ke liye galat, woh galat. My character will do anything for business!”

At this stage of her career, Guddi says what keeps her motivated is the variety of work coming her way.“As an artist, my motivation now is the different kinds of roles being offered to me. I’m truly enjoying this phase and having a great time performing again.”

Guddi Maruti has also been part of several popular television shows over the years, including Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal, Yam Hain Hum, Betiyaan Apni Ya Paraya Dhan, Sorry Meri Lorry, Doli Armaano Ki, Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, and many more. With Udne Ki Aasha, she continues to prove that her versatility and charm remain as strong as ever.
