Actress and fitness icon Saiyami Kher marked a deeply personal milestone. She completed 10 years since her first-ever participation at the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM). While her journey hasn’t been consecutive due to the pandemic, the marathon holds immense emotional value for Saiyami. It was the starting point of her endurance sports journey. It is a defining chapter in her life.
A passionate runner and accomplished Ironman triathlete, Saiyami’s relationship with the Mumbai Marathon goes beyond fitness. It was at TMM that she ran her first full 42.2 km marathon a decade ago, a moment that went on to shape her love for endurance sports and eventually led her to cross some of the toughest finish lines in the world, including two Ironman 70.3 races.
Sharing her emotions, Saiyami said, “Completing ten years at the Mumbai Marathon feels incredibly special because this is where my running journey began. My very first race was a full 42.2 km here, and that one start line went on to take me through so many finish lines in life. It took me all the way to completing two Ironman 70.3 races and truly beginning my endurance sport journey. Over the years, no matter how hectic shoots got or how tough training felt, showing up at this race has always grounded me.
What makes it even more beautiful today is seeing how many people especially women have taken up running and fitness as a way of life. It’s inspiring to watch India move towards a healthier lifestyle. I only hope we take equally serious steps to protect our environment and clean up our air, because staying fit should also mean being able to breathe clean, safe air while we do it. Running has taught me patience, resilience and belief in myself. Ten years of TMM is a reminder of how far that very first step has carried me.”

Saiyami is known for seamlessly balancing a demanding acting career with intense physical training. She champions fitness as a long-term commitment. It’s much more than a passing trend for her. As she reflects on a decade since her first run at TMM, her journey stands as a powerful testament. It illustrates consistency and mental strength. Her experience shows the transformative power of taking that first step and never stopping.
