As a country, we are the emerging superpower in the world But there’s also a dark side to this story.- 54 per cent of our population continues to defecate in the open.
‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, highlights the grim states of affair with the issue being woven around an endearing love-story. Akshay Kumar, the male protagonist of the movie, has rendered a ‘Toilet Anthem’, which launched today. The song, touted to climb the music charts, comes with an underlying message, which asks listeners to be the change they want to see in others.
Akshay was roped in to sing the track as the makers of the film, including director Shree Narayan Singh, felt that it needed a relatable voice. We hear, the actor has a unique hook-step in the song.
He says, “This issue has been on my mind for a while. I’m extremely proud of our nation’s achievements, but I’m also concerned about the problems caused by age-old mindsets. I jumped at the suggestion to sing this track. I hope that the audience will not only like it, but will also take up the cause of making India open-defecation-free.”
