Ruhi Singh, who was seen in movies like Calendar Girls, Ishq Forever and south movies like Bongu and Mosagallu, is making space for herself in show business slowly and steadily.
Ruhi has been a part of web series’ like Spotlight, Bang Baang and Chakravyuh, and will be soon seen in the web series called ‘Runaway Lugai’ on MX Player alongside Sanjay Mishra and Ravi Kishan.
Talking about her new show ‘Runaway Lugai’, Ruhi Singh revels, “Versatility is something that I want to portray through the characters I play and it’s definitely something i like to keep in mind while selecting a project. Playing Sagarika for instance, was difficult because it was an instantly layered character with raw emotions. It challenged me as an actor and that’s something I thoroughly enjoy.”
“I will be working with Sanjay Mishra and Ravi Kishan in Runaway Lugai. Sanjay sir is my favorite person it was a dream come true to share screen space with someone who is such a powerhouse of talent. Just observing him approach a scene can teach you so much as a young actor. Ravi Ji of course is a great performer himself and great fun to hang out with too. It was an honour to work with them.” Ruhi added.
From Modeling to acting, it’s been a long journey for the Ruhi. Discussing about if she is satisfied with the way her career is shaping up, Ruhi Singh said, “I actually did my first movie which was Calendar Girls. It was quite a dream because it was with Madhur Bhandarkar, a national award-winning director and making my debut with him was great. Well, it is a very competitive field and It’s taken me a really long time to get to this point where I’m getting to play such satisfying roles and such versatile characters. So yes, I’m pretty excited, though there’s a lot of scope, there’s a lot of more work to do. But yes, I’m happy with the way my career is shaping up, people have started recognizing me as an actor.”
Miss Universal Peace and Humanity 2014 Ruhi Singh has lived the model’s life for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Calendar Girl. Her 33 retakes for kissing co-star in Ishq Forever also made headlines, which make some people believe that she is more of bold actress but Ruhi has something else in her mind.
Ruhi said, “An actor is an actor. And a character is bold, not the person. So, yes, I’d like to be known as someone who can play a variety of characters that leave an impact on the minds and hearts of the audiences. I’d like to tell a story with full honesty and that’s what my priority is.”
“Bang Baang – The Sound of Crimes” actress enjoys working in films and web series as well. Talking about it, Ruhi Singh says, “I believe as an actor I have to give it my best shot irrespective of the medium. I love films and I would love to be part of as many good films as I can. That being said, one cannot deny the growing popularity of OTT, both mediums are important, can coexist and are here to stay.”
Ruhi has a fabulous body; she doesn’t shy away from showing it. When Unsung Bollywood asked her about women being portrayed as sex objects in many movies and web series’, the actress said, “I would just like to say that women are the most powerful. I think we have some really talented actresses out there whose performances are being talked about across the globe. Our female directors are creating cinematic masterpieces that are putting Indian content on the global map.”
“Let’s focus on the positives and encourage talent and not discuss about it,” she signs off.
