Gaurav Chopra’s popular play in theatre is now available in the form of a web series for ALTBalaji by Ekta Kapoor, and it is rather interestingly titled Fourplay. Here is Gaurav Chopra spilling the beans on the difference between the character he plays and what he believes in personal life, in an interview with Unsung Bollywood.
Talking about this transformation from theatre to web, Gaurav Chpora told Unsung Bollywood, “As we were coming as web a series and the concept was bold, we had naughty talks. So we, were scared that we should not cross out limits. But, one thing what I want to clear is this is just naughty adult comedy and we are not showing or doing anything vulgar in it.”
Whether it’s Raghuvendra Pratap Rathore of Uttaran, Professor Abhay Singh Ranawat of Sadda Haq or Captain Abhimanyu Rai Chauhan from Left Right Left, Gaurav Chopra is always known for his intense, angry young man roles. However, Fourplay is the show where he can display variety of his acting skills.
While explaining how different things were for the web as compared to theatre, Gaurav Chopra said, “When we used to do plays, I used to play my character as per different venues. So, in Delhi I would be more of a Delhi person, in Kolkata I used to play more sophisticated character. The auditorium we have in Kolkata was the Birla auditorium where it’s always as per audience.”
He added further, “Only challenge was doing it on camera. I’m not a loud actor on screen, I like to do it with lot of Thehrav. I like to talk more with eyes, and for somebody who is more evolved as actor, I like it to be much internalised. But, for Fourplay, it’s opposite. He is naughty, colourful, and Casanova. He is love guru to his friend and I haven’t used my normal regular base voice also.”
In this new show of his Gaurav Chopra is playing a Casanova type character who does enjoy one night stands and recommends it to friend as well, but talking about his real-life preferences Gaurav says, “I don’t believe in one night stands, but am lucky to have women in my life and always get attentions from ladies. I’m very old school, I love to treat women like gentlemen who opens cars door for her or pull chair for her while going out for dinner or sitting together anywhere. Sometimes because of all this some of my friends and colleagues calls me Ladies man.”
From the day Gaurav Chopra debuted on television to till date, he is looking handsome as ever. Sharing his secret behind his evergreen young looks he says, “Love I get from the women in my life make me look the way I’m. I can’t elaborate on this much hope you understand what I mean.”
In 2004, Gaurav Chopra made his television debut in a show called ‘Laavanya’ which was co-written by Rajesh Khattar and now he is sharing screen space with him on Fourplay, which is like family thing.
