Unsung Bollywood: In Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety you are getting married and get stuck between your best friend and would be wife. Do you feel boys get jealous? What about you?
Sunny Singh: I don’t think so boys get jealous, depends on person to person. I help friends don’t feels jealous. I have helped a lot of my friend in marrying. Recently my friends got married it was arrange marriage. We asked him to show pictures of the girl met her and now he is saying arre yaar match nahi ho raha mentality pange ho gaye hai, and I told him now only god can help you as you are married now. Now you see, we are your friends and always be there for you but can’t do anything in this situation as you have to manage it.
Many times it happened that we help friend but he misunderstands that I’m involved with the girl he used to like and because of it my friendship is broken.
Unsung Bollywood: While taking side of her girl Titu always says to his friend yaar Meri Wali Alag hai, often you use this line?
Sunny Singh: In my life from college time I used to feel that, same as my character that Meri Wali Alag Hai (My girl is different) in first sight only you fall in love and start feeling that I want to marry this girl, she is so different and It happens with many guys.
In my case, he (Titu) is family guy, Sanskari, Sweet, cute specks respectfully with others so in that case it normally happens that he feels his girl is totally different, she is always right you can’t say she is wrong at all.
I am like Titu in real-life at home different and with friends too. I want girl like simple, family person, Sanskari and balanced in life.
Unsung Bollywood: Tell us something about your family?
Sunny Singh: My father is action director Jaisingh Nijjar who won best action award for Shivaay and has been in industry from past 40 years. He worked with action director Veeru Devgn father of Ajay Devgn.
Unsung Bollywood: As your father has been in the industry from so long what you have learned from him?
Sunny Singh: My father has stability, simplicity and is grounded, he is always like that and lived life in very simple way even on pick of his carrier.
He always tells me that if I can reach heights in my career being from nowhere from industry so you can’t you grow to peak of your career.
Unsung Bollywood: How did you become an actor? How was your schooling and journey so far as actor?
Sunny Singh: For me it’s always been there that I have to give auditions to become actor, event sometime we have references but I believe that at the end of the day your talent works for you, how you groom yourself, you work to improve your acting skills. When you meet director it’s all about what you show.
All this I have learnt from theatre which I did with Nadira Babbar mam and one of my teachers from National School of Drama (NSD). But real training is done by Luv Ranjan during readings of the film, I surrender myself completely. Journey was tough in auditions till 101 numbers I have waited sometimes; though I was aware my number will not come still, so we used to have food and come back I started struggling 18 years.
When I born that time only it was said that I have to do this only as my family and relatives too belong to film industry and as child I used to go for film trails specially Ajay Sir’s and used to got inspired that I have to do it.
Unsung Bollywood: As your Father is action director would you like to do action film and what you feel about it?
Sunny Singh: Action is my favourite zone, every night we have meeting me and my father and he asked so where are you coming from, what’s happening? So you want to do it or not any action film? And I say yes I want to do it. He also says if you get some good action film with raw action which is real and meaningful action does it. I like the old films action real it real action.
