Actress Tara Alisha Berry started out with a music video with Shaan called Khudgarzi and debuted in Hindi films was Mastram. She had also worked in Anurag Basu-directed Chokher Bali, which aired on Epic Channel in 2015 as part of a series called Stories by Rabindranath Tagore. Tara further signed a three-film deal with Vishesh Films, and her first release from these was Love Games directed by Vikram Bhatt. The actress is a known face in the Telugu film industry too. And now, she is making her yet another debut, but this time on web with her new web series Love, Lust and Confusion.
Talking about her debut on web, Tara Alisha Berry, who plays Poroma in the show, tells Unsung Bollywood, “It was not my idea of debuting on the web. But, when the director Victor and producer approached me and narrated script to me, I thought it was once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of this show, which is about a girl’s journey of self-discovery. In today’s times, where there is too much stress and pressure, and too much instant gratification, this story is about how she slowly finds herself. I think it is lovely to display as an actor and I’m very grateful to get that opportunity.”
Love, Lust and Confusion also stars Udaan fame actor Rajat Barmecha and television’s handsome hunk Gaurav Chopra. Sharing about her experience working with them, Tara says, “Rajat and I had spent lot of time together during our sittings and have done some workshops together. We were preparing ourselves from long time for the show. By the time we went on shoot we become comfortable with each other as actors, which really comes across on screen and we needed that. Even in the show, we are very close. I enjoy working with him, because he is like friend now. I think that’s the lovely thing because that doesn’t happen all the time. I admire him as a person and actor.”
About Gaurav Chopra, she adds, “It was different because I really didn’t get time with him. We had met one day and directly met on shoot for a scene that was quite intimate for the two characters. At that time, we were both wondering how it’s really going to work. But, when we shot the chemistry was fully there as per the characters, and it was pleasure working with Gaurav. He is phenomenal actor, and a lovely person.
The best compliment Tara got till date is that she always looks different from the characters she played previously and tries to do something new.
As the web series is titled Love, Lust and Confusion, we were curious to know how the intimate scenes have been depicted in the show. On it, Tara replies, “Victor is sure it will strike to be real. It’s written in a very real way, like we see in English movies or we do it in real life, the way we kiss or make love. The essence to the shooting behind these scenes is it was not done to sensationalise or for masala. Every scene has been shot for a specific reason. Whether it’s our director, producer, or even my co-actors, all are clear that the intentions are very important. And, when you see the show, you will know how important they are in shaping the characters and changing them.”
Tara adds that she has a very strong connection with her character in Love, Lust and Confusion as she also has to keep searching herself in the journey called life.
Apart from the web series, Tara is early waiting for her films Agam and You and I to release in cinemas this year. Talking about her movies, she reveals, “These films have been to several film festival and probably will release in India this year in theatres. You and I is very close to my heart as it’s directed by my close friends Sahir Ahmed and Afzal. Only we know how we have made this film; we have shot it on iPhone, and it has done very well in all the festivals. Agam again is a different kind of film, which showcases three people’s spiritual journey based in Banaras.”
