Veteran actress Shammi, better known as Shammi aunty is no more. While details about her passing away are not available, noted fashion designer Sandeep Khosla put up a post on his Instagram account with a poignant picture of the actress. We will miss you, you will always remain special to us RIP Shammi Aunty (1929-2018), he wrote terming her as best friend, guide and family.
Born as Nargis Rabadi into a Parsi family, Shammi aunty is said to have appeared in over two hundred Bollywood films. She was known for her comic timing. Some of her famous movies are Ilzam (1954), Pehli Jhalak (1955), Bandish (1955), Azaad (1955), Halaku (1956), Son of Sinbad (1955), Raj Tilak (1958), Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai (1960). She played comic and vamp roles in many films like Half Ticket, Ishaara, Jab Jab Phool Khile, Preet Na Jane Reet, Upkar and Ittefaq. In the 90s, she featured in successful films like Coolie No 1, Hum and Hum Saath-Saath Hain among others.

In the later part of her career, she tasted success on the small screen too with popular TV shows like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Zabaan Sambhal Ke, Shriman Shrimati, Kabhi Yeh Kabhi Woh and Filmi Chakkar. According to reports, Shammi aunty was married to film producer director Sultan Ahmed for seven years, before they separated.
Shammi aunty made a comeback to Bollywood with the 2013 flick Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. Interestingly, Daisy Irani, who had worked Shammi in her first film as a child artist Bandish (1955) portrayed her daughter-in-law.
