With a career spanning 34 years and over 500 projects including international films and series such as Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Bride and Prejudice (2004), Lust, Caution (2007), Speedy Singhs (2011) and Silver Linings Playbook (2013), Sense8 (2015), A Family Man (2016), The Indian Detective (2017) and an upcoming movie, Hotel Mumbai to his credit, Anupam Kher is one of the most celebrated Indian actors in Hollywood.
Kher has now been nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, for the role of Azmat Nanjiani for the category ‘Outstanding Performance By A Cast In A Motion Picture’ in the romantic comedy, The Big Sick, making it his second SAG nomination after the Oscar-winning, Silver Linings Playbook in 2013. The Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan laureate is the only Indian actor to have earned two SAG nominations. He will be flying to Los Angeles to join the film’s ensemble starcast for the award show on the 21st of January.
Currently holding the chairmanship at the Film and Television Institute of India, and being an inspiration to newcomers who wish to break into the Indian cinema, Kher is a fitting mentor to fresh acting talent with his international accolades.
